About Me
My name is Dick Gariepy
Hi. I’m the person behind Big Thinky Ouchey — a mental health and justice blog born out of necessity, stubbornness, and the kind of experiences you don’t talk about at dinner parties.
I wasn’t always like this. Once upon a time, I had a trajectory. A clear path. A shiny future with bullet points and credentials and people who nodded approvingly when I spoke. Then life took a sharp left — or maybe several — and somewhere between the paperwork, the waiting rooms, the late-night Google searches, and the moments I can’t quite explain, this version of me emerged: someone with a little too much insight, a little too much time, and absolutely no interest in pretending everything’s fine.
This blog is where I put the thoughts that don’t fit neatly into a diagnosis or a status update. It’s a mix of philosophy, oversharing, emotional debris, and jokes that go down a bit too rough. On the surface, it might look like chaos — but if you’re paying attention, there’s something underneath. A thread. A message. Maybe even a purpose.
